One of the most endearing pieces in the collection — a vintage creative kokeshi depicting a mother carrying her baby, dated 1968 on the base. Signed by an artisan unknown to us, this Shingata-style doll is a wonderful example of the storytelling that creative kokeshi makers brought to their craft, moving beyond the traditional cylindrical form to capture a moment of tender human connection.
At 10.5" tall, it has a warm, immediate presence. The pin in the headpiece is loose and will require minor repair — a small fix for a piece with real character and a documented date.
